Grimm vs. Disney

The following are some endings of Grimm's fairytales:

Jungfrau Maleen (Maid Maleen): 

"So the Prince recovered his true Bride and with her lived happily for many long years.
But the false Bride had her head cut off."

Cinderella: 

"and the wedding was celebrated with great festivities, and the two sisters were smitten with blindness as a punishment for their wickedness."

Rapunzel: 

"Then he led her away to his kingdom, where he was received with great demonstrations of joy, and where they lived long, contented and happy.                                                            
What became of the old Witch no one ever knew."

Snow White: 

"By chance the old stepmother of Snow-White was also invited to the weddings, and when she was dressed in all her finery to go, she first stepped in front of her mirror, and asked,--

'Oh, mirror, mirror on the wall, Who is the fairest of us all?'

and it replied,--

'Thou wert the fairest, oh lady Queen; The Prince's bride is more fair, I ween.'

At these words the old Queen was in a fury, and was terribly mortified that she knew not what to do with herself. At first she resolved not to go to the wedding, but she could not resist the wish for a sight of the young Queen, and as soon as she entered she recognized Snow-White, and was so terrified with rage and astonishment that she remained rooted to the ground. Just then a pair of red-hot iron shoes were brought in with a pair of tongs and set before her, and these she was forced to put on and to dance in them till she fell down dead."

Well, are you depressed yet? Now compare these Disney endings of the above tales (excluding Maid Maleen, which they have regretfully not retold):

Cinderella:

Prince and Cinderella get married and ride off in a carriage, while stepmother and stepsisters still live as well off as they used to be in manor...other than the fact that the stepsisters get to do Cinderella's chores, they're life is pretty nice and unchanged.

Rapunzel:

Rapunzel's hair gets cut off, but she still saves Flynn. Then she and Flynn return to the city where they are happily reunited with her parents, and the whole kingdom celebrates. Oh, by the way, Mother Gothel died...by disappearing into thin air.

Snow White:

After dwarves discover the Queen, they chase her. She gets caught at a cliff, so she tries to send a boulder down on the dwarves, but lightning strikes the cliff and she falls (implied: to her death).

What happened in between the grim endings and Disney's endings that have changed them so much? They used to tell the Grimm tales to children as warnings and examples. And we actually think we're more advanced in thinking and society when children and teens today think the world belongs to them and they're entitled to anything they want...without having to do anything to earn it and without the consequences for their actions? 

It makes me wonder what kind of world we'd live in if our little girls and boys had grown up on those endings instead of the happy and easy endings of Disney's. Just how much can fairytales like these can influence our society?

When all is said and done, however, I appreciate and prefer the classic Disney fairytales. They're cute, and make people happy. It is a relief that, in our sad and confused world, there are wonderful Disney classics to remind people of the simple beauty of dreams and fairytales.
